(More customer reviews)I did extensive research on this generator because I use one regularly, not just for backup power. I am highly disappointed in it because I made numerous calls to Ramsond's tech support before I decided to buy and everything they told me has turned out to be incorrect. The main issue is that this is a 3600 rpm diesel and I was told, on two separate occasions, that it was a low rpm 2200 genset. I know from research (and experience) that 3600 rpm air cooled diesels have a very low lifespan (injector and fuel pump failure at around 1000-1500 hours if you are lucky). Ramsond now acknowledges the very low life span but denies telling me it was a 2200 rpm unit and says that in fact there is no such thing, that generators must be either 1800 or 3600 rpm to function at 60hz which I know to be incorrect. Ramsond's website also hypes the battery as a superior 24 volt 36 amp Sail brand battery in all Elite series generators and the unit arrived equipped by an ordinary 12 volt battery.
Amazon.com processed this sale and delivery in a lightening fast manner, as usual, but I feel like I have made a mistake by choosing the Ramsond unit. It may be OK and last a few years for occasional backup power but if you plan to actually use the thing, you can expect it to fail, probably within the first year.
