(More customer reviews)Did a lot of in-store shopping first to compare the quality of electric fireplaces/media center. It has a substantial appearance, yet is one of the smaller units out there (one of the reasons I bought it). This is a quality piece of furniture with nice details: beveled glass, beautiful weighty wood and good trimwork - the expresso is nearly black and goes perfectly with black pieces in the room.
It does a good job heating a small sunroom in 20 degree weather set at medium heat(replaced older electric heat with this unit).
Assembly pretty easy for me....fair amount of parts, but well labeled and good directions. A couple of steps were easier with an extra pair of hands but could be done alone. Does NOT look like it was assembled at home!
It would be nice if the sound were more realistic but sound is seldom on since TV or music is usually on.
Couldn't believe the price range - 999 +tax in stores, and anywhere from just over 600 with shipping (that I jumped on through Amazon) up to 1700 at one online shop!
I've had many compliments, and look forward to getting a lot more use out of my cozy sunroom this year! Two thumbs up - highly recomend!

To send it back cost almost $100, this is a very bad purchase in my opinion. We just got stuck with a mess of logs and nothing else. Beware of this purchase. If you only get logs that is all that should be pictured in the ad.

This one is only 9-10" high and even has storage when you lift up the top - perfect for knitting/needles. The tapestry covering is understated although wouldn't match all decor.

(More customer reviews)We moved in to a downsized house and one thing that was missing was a fireplace. We had had an electric fireplace in FL and because of the ease of installation and ambiance we decided to do one again. This fit our needs as we did not want to hang a tv over the fireplace. If you want just a fireplace, you might want a larger one with mantel. Dimplex has many styles of fireeplace tv stand combinations. but it is great for small spaces. Dimplex is a major maker of electric fireplaces and gets good ratings. This was the only cabinet style fireplace we could find. Dimples previously made one somehat larger, but it is obsolite unless you leave in Windsor, Canada.
The unit come by truck in three large boxes. The boxes are individually heavy. Since these come by truck, full inspection at time of arrival is required. In our case one box had been punctured by a forklift. Investigation revealed only damage to the styrofoam. Be wary, if there are problems discovered after the delivery you may be on your own.
The cabinet assembles in two pieces. The lower cabinet is composed of one piece for the front and the sides. To make it manageable, the sides are hinged. The front and two sides bolt to the base. A rear support is added. The upper cabinet is similar with the main part the front doors (which are braced to hold them in place) and two hinged sides. It is a bit to lift it onto the bottom. A rear panel is added along with a top piece. Insert the one adjustable shelf and the cabinet is is finished. The fireplace slides into the bottom. Plug it in to a regular 110 outlet and you are done. Turn the frieplace off and then on and push the remote and you are set. This is nearly a one-person job, but a second is needed several times for lifting and positioning.
The cabient is quite sturdy and very attractive. It really looks just like the picture. This fireplace does not have all the bells and whistles of some of the more upscale Dimplex boxes, but it was just fine for us. This cabinet is every bit as good, if not better, than the Bassett cabinet we also have.
It took longer to reconnect the cable box, dvd player, and tv than it took to put it together.
I would recommend it for anyone wanting a cozy fireplace. I put a 37 inch wide flatscreen in the cabinet with a bit to spare. The only down point is that the door clasps sit in the center of the main shelf which means the TV has to sit back several inches for the stand which makes the TV sit back 4 or 5 inches into the cabinet.
Very nice cabinet and nice small fireplace. By the way it makes some good heat when you want heat.

(More customer reviews)This is our second Classic Flame purchase. We wanted a smaller, portable unit for the bedroom to add warmth on cold nights. We have been very pleased with this unit! Comes with a remote control or, you can use the control panel buttons, both activate the automatic on-screen function indicators (indicators fade out when not in use). The flame is very realistic, there are 5 brightness levels so you can choose the desired flame intensity. The heater has 11 thermostat levels to cycle through (62, 64, 66-82 degrees), or turn the heater off and enjoy the ambiance. Also has a timer ... what a great idea! You can choose from one of ten timer settings: 30 minutes, or 1-9 hours. We turn the fireplace on 70 degrees and set the timer before we head up to bed ... the room heats up very quickly and is warm toasty when we arrive. Because the timer is set, the unit turns itself off after we're asleep. The cabinet is very pretty, too. The top has the look of inlaid wood trim which adds a very nice touch! If you're looking for a smaller, attractive fireplace/heater - consider this unit. You'll get a beautiful cabinet, realistic fire (google Classic Flame, they've won awards), remote, temperature levels, and timer!

Deluxe Brooder Lamp 10.5" Review

(More customer reviews)Most people will think... what can you possibly write about a brooder lamp? Well, as this is a safety issue in many cases, some aspects are very important.
When one is in the market for brooding their hatchling chicks, or other baby critters, requireing auxiliary heat, these lamps are a good choice.
This particular lamp has all the necessary "extras"... For example, note that it has a white ceramic receiver for the bulb, this will allow the high wattage bulbs, the standard being 250 watts.
***Some brooder lamps of this kind will have a plastic (normally brown) receptacle for the bulb. These can NOT handle the 250 watt brooder bulbs and may overheat.
Note also, that this lamp has the wire retainer on the back, allowing it to be suspended by a hook and not by the electrical wire. This retainer wire is connected to the hood, not the receptacle.
Another absolute must, is the four prong guard on the face of the hood. Should your hood fail, and the lamp fall onto straw or hay (both of which I do not recommend for chicks), it will reduce the risk of fire from contact with the bulb.
There is a spring clamp attachment, which works nicely when clamping onto a normal 2x4 stud which is verticle. It is not sufficiently articulated, as to clamp on a box edge and focus heat straight down. ***A word of caution here. I do not recommend using a cardboard box as a brooder and having a lamp like this clamped on the side, smaller boxes easily tip over. Consider having the light clamped to a chair leg, or stool leg next to your box brooder instead.
Why should you get a lamp with a 250 watt capacity, when you are going to use a 60 or 75 watt bulb? Because, it's that much safer and the shroud directs heat down where you need it most.
***General note here, before you put living things beneath this lamp? Set it up with a thermometer beneath it, see what the temperatures are and make adjustments accordingly, then, when all is well.... bring in the chicks!
***Ok, so say you are putting in day old chicks and using a low wattage bulb. You'll have the lamp very near the floor/substrate right? Those little rascals are apt to perch "on" the wire shroud guard. So, my recommendation there is, to get a higher wattage bulb and place it out of young bird perching reach. Meaning, instead of a 40 watt, upgrade to a 65?
In closing, I'd like to add one comment regarding conservation, I see this frequently when people show me their brooder set ups... while complaining about electricity bills, we walk into the brooder area and I see several 250 watt brooder bulbs in an array, normally 3 feet or more off the floor. Reduce the wattage and lower the lamps. Avoid white light as it's a source of stress (try to sleep with a white light over your head), use red, or even blue lamps. Enough light so the birds can find food and water 24 hours a day, but not so much light that they go nuts and peck at each other from stress.
Can't find a lower wattage bulb in the proper color? I have a solution for that also... get a clear or white bulb in the optimum wattage... go to your craft store and purchase a bottle of Pebeo glass paint, or other non-toxic red or blue glass paint. These paints are heat cured. Paint your bulb and vwalla... a brooder bulb is created. I recommend that you have an extra bulb on standby. You don't want to see your light go out on Sunday evening, with three feet of snow outside and discover you only had one bulb!

(More customer reviews)First of all the quality is great. Nicely built. Has a mechanical on/off switch which is essential if you are planning on placing this on a timer like I did. The problem I have with it is that it simply doesn't get hot enough. Does get warm, or maybe tepid. Certainly not like that right out of the dryer feeling.It does allow wet towels, placed on it, to dry faster.
I did buy another cheaper model for $68 at a local retailer because it had 3 settings. None were hotter. It also had an electronic on/off switch which didn't work with a timer. Its quality was cheap plastic as well.
Overall I would not buy another as the amount of warmness is not worth this price.
