(More customer reviews)Pump is well priced for its function. Our most recent use was last night, after getting approx. 6" of rain in two parts within 5 days of each other. Our house has a below-ground stairwell that leads into a basement door. When we get significant rain such as this recent double hit, the drain systems are overwhelmed and the stairwell becomes a mini-swimming pool, with water rising to the level of the door and enters into the house. Our remedy? Liberty Pumps 260 to the rescue. We place the pump outside the door over the drain, with a 30' garden hose attached to the outlet and stretched out into the back yard. Plug it in and watch the water quickly drained out of the stairwell through the hose into the back yard. Of course, the stairwell rapidly fills up again during such a storm, so come back in 30 minutes and repeat as often as needed.
We have had other similar pumps, and this one is the best of the bunch. It is the only one that starts to pump almost immediately when placed into the pool of water, without all the fussing the other pumps require to get the pump primed and the water pumping, including setting the pump on its side to release air bubbles. This pump's design, for whatever reason, requires no fussing. Plug n' pump. Done.
Only held back 1 star because it could be made even more convenient if it had an on/off switch inline with the power cord, instead of having to plug and unplug the power cord for on/off control. In fairness, none of the other brands we have tried have on/off controls, either. Such a control near the plug would further distinquish this little guy from the pack.
