I wanted a bulb with little visible light to put in my bathroom which is very cold in the morning, to keep my sweet little wife warm while she gets ready for work without having to bring in a space heater. As with any heat lamp you need to make sure it is screwed into a porcelain or ceramic socket, not a plastic one- the plastic could melt if you leave it on very long.
I had a problem with a bad bulb and the seller contacted me personally and fixed the problem. I now have the porcelain heat bulb with no "visible" light (only infrared light/heat), which works perfectly as a heater for my bathroom and goes on along with the lights when the switch is turned. Even better than before. Excellent service.
I suppose if it works for my wife then it will work for your reptiles as well.
