This unit? I found it to be a bit rumble-ee but bearable. And when the unit is on high, yes, the cable gets a bit warm. Since the high setting is pushing a lot of watts, a cord getting a "bit" warm, is normal and not a sign of danger. If the cord becomes overly "hot" then yes, be concerned. Being an overkill type of personality, I'm having an electrician over to install an additional wall box which will have a 20A, hospital grade, duplex, receptacle installed in it. That's as good as it gets in regard to electricity supply.
We have it placed unobtrusively on the bathroom floor to help warm the room up in the morning. This bathroom is at the end of a long heater duct run and needs a bit of heating assistance. Running this floor heater for about ten minutes on these cold, cold mornings, helps warm the room so getting out of a hot shower is not such an uncomfortable experience.
Yes, this unit is a bit pricey compared to the less stylized box-ee units but your choices seem to be; a radar dish, obtrusively large stand-up units or utilitarian looking heater cubes. And then there's this unit. If you want style, absolutely, the pickings are lean. And being beige, the unit just sort of sits there, unnoticed until you want it to give you what you bought it for.
I gave it four stars as I felt for the price it was not well made and found that the rumble-ee nature, rightly should cost this different type of aux floor heater a star. Never-the-less, yes, I'd buy another despite this point as there's nothing else out there with style and for me, style is an important selling point.
